Procedures:
1.What does Lady Macbeth's monologue tell you?
Nought's had, all's spent,
Where our desire is got without content:
'Tis safer to be that which we destroy
Than by destruction dwell in doubtful joy.
2. What is she still trying to do when she says,"Things without all remedy /Should be without regard: what's done is done."?
3.In what state of mind is Macbeth based on his monologue starting with "We have scotch'd the snake, not kill'd it:" to Malice domestic, foreign levy, nothing, /Can touch him further "? Analyze the speech and draw a picture with word how Macbeth feels.
4. Repond to Macbeth's speech,"And make our faces vizards to our hearts, /Disguising what they are. "
5. What change do we see in Lady Macbeth when she suggests,"You must leave this"?
6. What plan is implied to settle Macbeth's fear for Banquo when he responds,"There's comfort yet; they are assailable"?
7.What change in their relationship have we noticed in this scene?

1.Do reseach in this web site and find out what people believe about ghosts in Shakespeare's time?
2. Do some research on this subject after class. Could you recommend some web sites that have interesting information?
Based on your research on and reading of the infomation about ghosts, write an essay describing the origin of ghosts, how the idea is perceived differently in diffrerent cultures, and how people of Shakespear's time viewed ghosts. Analyze in your essay the purpose of creating this "Banquo's ghost" scene by Shakespeare; what can you predict will happen to Macbeth as result of this scene.
3.How should the ghost in the banquet scene be view considering the following:
4. How do the following react to the appearance of the ghost? Macbeth? Lady Macbeth? The lords? The audience of Shakespeare's time?
5. What is your reaction and explanation of the ghost who appears at the banquet?
6. How again does Lady Macbeth try to protect Macbeth from his own fears? What evidence can be found at the end of scene 4 to show that Lady Macbeth has been straining her own nerves to remain calm?
7.What examples of foreshadowing can be found in Macbeth's speech ? What grievance does Macbeth have against Macduff? How does this speech show the further deterioration of Macbeth's character?

Assignment:
Write a speech to your fellow members of the Highland Political Club expressing your thoughts about the events at the castale and what you think should be done.

Write a letter to Scotland Gazette commenting on the current situation in the State of Scotland.
Irony

1. What is your impression of Macbeth's state of mind at this point?
2. Compare and contrast the murders of Banquo and Duncan. How does the murder of Banquo illustrate the changes that Macbeth has Undergone?( Think in terms of the method used in each killing; M's attitude before each action; his reaction after the event; the role playeds by Lady Macbeth).
3.How does the relationship between Macbeth and his wife change after the death of Duncan? Explain your answer with examples from Act Three. (Consider in terms of Macbeth's refusal to receal his plans regarding Banquo; his "fit" at the banquet and her reaction; their feelings about Duncan's murder and its effect)
4. What are your predictions about the events of the next act?
5. How do you think Macbeth and Lady Macbeth would be treated in the press today?
