ThinkQuest Group Progress Report

As the teacher, I shall facilitate all activities that will take place in this class. I'll help you with any trouble you may encounter during these activities. I'll play all roles necessary to help every student in each group from generating ideas to creating images, writing  and basic grammar. On Monday, I'll have a group meeting with Group 1; Tuesday with Group 2; Wednesday with Group 3; Thursday with Group 4; Friday with Group 5. On the designated day of the meeting, that specific group will get most of my time and attention while other groups may have opportunities to ask quick questions. So be prepared before the meeting. Workshop will be conducted within each group.

On Oct.20, 2005 (Thursday), all groups will have finalized-

• Title of the group literary magazine
• Theme of the November Issue( Issue 1)
• The table of contents
• Registration in ThinkQuest site

By the end of the period, each group must post their final decisions in the Forum.

HW. Each member creates a design for the site based on the Title of the Literary Magazine. Due Friday.

On Oct. 21st, 2005 (Friday), all groups will work on --

• Each member's responsibilities ( Who writes and reads what; who takes photograph, who design the site etc)
• deadline for each work. Remember to leave time for editing.
• posting the responsibility descriptions plus the assignments in the Forum.
• assignments for the next week.

HW: Each member complete the group assignment(s).

On Oct 24, 2005; Each group must -

Introduction to Ekphrastic Poetry

• Complete the graphic design of the cover page based on the title of the magazine
• Complete (revisable) Table of Contents for November Issue
• Start Thinking about the cover design of the November Issue cover page.
• Show the work in progress ( based on the assignment you have received from your group)

Remember each day goes by, the project has to progress slightly. If not, you will give yourself  tremendous workload in the end. You can use the Forum to load your work. You can add new topic for your group in the Form. Each day this week, I'll like to hear each group's progress report.

On Oct 26, all groups must -

1. Complete Graphic design for the title ( one member can work on this assignment).
2. Complete Graphic design on the November Issue( one member can work on this).
3. Define the Index Page( Table of Contents) of the 1st issue (Two Members can work on this)
4. Research on the Topic to get ideas for writing. Some suggestions for composition-
   • Book Analysis (critical essay using one of the approaches of criticism we have learned),
   • Poem
   • Create a script (dialogue or monologue) based on an excerpt of a story or novel.
   • Rewrite a poem into a script using different voices.
   • Write a story based on current events.
   • Add voice to historical events using a true historical figure( A very successful writer has been writing sequels on Jesus Chris using Him as "I").
   • Write a story based on an artwork( photographs or paintings)-Ekphrastic Poetry
   • Create Subtext ( meaning between the lines) of an excerpt from a difficult text.
   • Write a letter to the author ( if the author is still alive , send an email to him/her. Ask for a response).
   • Interview the living writer via  email explaining what you are doing for your project..)
5. Ideas for graphic
   • Digital Tableau based on a specific scene in a book to illustrate its theme or conflict or character
   • Cover design of a book
   • Poetry Illustration
6. Ideas for performing art
   1.  Perform a poem
   2. Perform a story using Movie Maker
7. Each member must complete a piece of writing by the end of this week.

On Oct.27.2005, all students must submit one piece of writing based on the group magazine table of contents for November issue for Week Oct 24,05-Oct 28, 05.

On Oct. 31, 2005, We'll discuss the following topics-

1. Leaderships skills
   • What things a leader to do to help the group work and progress together?
   • What has the leader done that 's been working?
   • What areas need to be improved?
2. How to collaborate?
3. I'll mainly work with group 1 today but other groups may come up to me to ask questions concerning your group work.
4. I must have one piece of writing from each student by the end of the day (handing it in tomorrow will be considered late).
