e. List and explain what you believe to be the top 5 characteristics of an effective and ineffective speaker.
3) Writing your career choice speech: What are some of your career choices? Select one and make a short speech about why you have decided to pursue the career. The focus of your speech is your career goal( childhood dream). How would you make a speech that is about your career goal? In addition to considering the following, what else would you include in the speech: inspiration, aspiration, an anecdote, a role model, a TV show, a book, a film, cultural background, a tragedy, etc.
Select 2 videos of your choice to watch and take notes. Consider: What helps the speaker make his/her career choices? How does the speaker relate to the audience? What grabbed your attention? Is there an implied universal message?

Share future career choice and the reason or motivation behind -Why does my career choice tell my audience about me? Career Speech Delivery date: 7/12 ( Tuesday)
Prompt:
In your college class, your professor has asked you to introduce yourself by talking about a career choice or any one of the topics that are important to you. Write a speech in which you discuss a career choice you have made or have not made or an issue that’s important to you personally. In the speech, you will shed light to your audience on what may have impacted you to consider such a choice /topic or why you have not decided on a specific career choice/make your choice to do what you did. Use personal experiences such as anecdote, references to social context or even history etc to help reveal your purpose. The speech should be 3-minute long. Effective speeches can help audience feel your message is universal and they feel connected to you and your subject .( Here is an example you can follow to structure a self-introductory speech)

- What’s the subject( career choice)?
- What kind of tone do you hope to project in order for people to feel your attitude and understand your purpose?

A. Steps to prepare for an occasion speech
-Describe the occasion in details
-Who will be the audience?
-What’s the specific purpose of your speech?-Establish your credibility for and connection with the occasion
-Is it the organization or a person you are presenting or honoring? Or both? how are they connected?
-What information you will present to the audience, which will direct their attention to the person or the organization or the event?
-What’s a metaphor you can use to symbolize the meaning/ significance of the occasion?
-If you are writing a protest speech, what’s the issue? Who do you represent? Who will be listening to your speech?
-If you are writing a toast, what story will you tell, which is both funny , meaningful, and memorable?
